QZ Solutions collaborates with a leading provider of desktop virtualization system to design a web based TCO calculator provides Zero Client Computing Devices. TCO calculator calculates Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) by implementing Zero Client Computing Devices. Earlier TCO calculator was devised in Excel and later on it was made online through this project to enable online execution of costs and savings exhibited from using the technology.

Client Objectives

The client had developed a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Calculator based in excel which calculated cost related information based on custom formula. Client’s objective were:

  • To re-engineer this into a web-based solution which is scalable and could be sold to multiple customers
  • Minimum upfront investments – cost effective solution
  • Cut short purchase decision time by half

Robust reporting framework, including visually appealing reports for easy understanding

Project Challenges

  • To re-engineer a web based solution, which could process the information, consisting of multiple combinations of parameters such as number of hardware components, tenure etc.
  • Provide detailed reports specifying cost analysis and performance benefits for the selected parameters

Solution

Quadzero product development team proposed a Framework based solution to generate realistic, easy to follow output that would facilitate users purchase decision making process:

Content Management System:

A web application setup was created based on Framework which could accept user inputs, calculate in accordance with the customized formulae and provide performance reports to the users

Conclusion

  • Reports were generated with respect to competitive analysis and Total cost of ownership in standard PDF compatible formats with advanced graphical analysis (Charts, graphs etc.) to facilitate users and sales personnel to visualize and comprehend reports easily.
  • System throughput and response time was significantly improved due to rapid generation of TCO reports around the clock.
